The 5 unknown family members

Elections in Karnataka are round the corner, and I had read in the media about the number of fake identities registered as bogus voters. Like this one:

They claim the lists have nearly six million bogus voters. The state has around 42 million voters.

That is 1 in 7 voters are fake!

Never before had I paid much heed to these stats; until I saw the voter records for our address - Apart from my parents and myself, there were 5, yes, FIVE, unknown family members listed. The names (Shivamma, Rudrappa, Nanjundaswami, Jagadeesha, Mamata), typical Kannada names, have now been deleted. When leaders are decided with a 10% difference, wouldn’t this be ludicrous?

Update: My mother just said that her name was missing in the voters’ list, in spite of having a valid voter ID card and having voted in all previous elections!
